BEDROCK TYPE BENCH PLANE
SOBA Bench Hand Planes, based on the Stanley Bedrock design which was last produced in 1943 , it features a heavy, stress-relieved ductile iron castings, fully machined adjustable frogs, and high carbon steel blades. Bedrocks were top of the line with a fully machined fit between frog and body, and adjustable from the rear without removing the blade and cap. This allows you to easily change the mouth setting from a coarse to fine cut. We are continuously working on ways to improve the design of the hand planes that are meant to offer extraordinary use and value.

 The construction of the frog is unique , it features a fully machined frog and body for a perfect fit . This ensures absolute stability of the Frog, providing a firm and solid surface for the cutting iron, this again rests on a fully machined upper side of the Frog.

The Planes are made from the finest materials: the body and frog are made from accurately machined graded ductile cast iron which is a very strong alloy and can take a lot of abuse and their sides and sole fully ground. These castings are fully stress relieved, a process that removes inherent stresses and ensures that the tool will remain flat and true.The Knob and handle are carefully shaped, sanded and sealed from choiced hardwood.

The Blade is made from High Carbon steel, hardened and tempered to 60-62 Rockwell  HRC , precision ground and are 3 mm thick .

 The Frog locating pins and screws are made from stainless steel . Both the Screws and Adjusting Wheel are made from polished brass.

The accuracy of this mechanism allows for the cutting iron to be advanced to give a virtually "zero" mouth opening, so allowing the finest shavings to be taken even on the most difficult of woods. The Bedrock design is a fully machined fit between frog and body features an adjust from the rear without having to remove the blade and cap.  Higher degree frog can be used . Interchangeability between parts is easy .
