The plane is made of ductile cast iron seasoned and the sole and sides of the plane are precision ground to exacting tolerances. The steel cap snaps into place for securing the blade which can be adjusted by the rear brass adjustment screw.This Block plane has a unique cutting blade that fits at 20° with an upward facing bevel, as opposed to 45° with a downward facing bevel .The low angle, combined with the upward-facing bevel makes this block plane extremely effective at cutting difficult end grain. The adjustable throat allows you to keep the opening tight for fine shavings, you can open it up for rough works. Perfect for planing end grain and small areas.
